July 3rd Celebration Recap

by admin on July 14, 2011

July 3rd came and went with most everyone seeming to have a good time in spite of thunderstorms, heavy rain and a few parking glitches. We all got treated to a most unusual sight of two fireworks barges and nature’s own display in between. However …

We kind of got busted by the town for some private fireworking that was going on on the beach, the sidewalk along the beach, and in a couple of yards. Rusty got a call from one of the town council who advised him that private fireworks are against both town and county ordinances. No one’s getting hauled off to the slammer, but the message was clear that we are not to let it happen again.

And, the morning after, there was a mess of both spent and unexploded fireworks on the sidewalk, yards and along one of the paths. Unsightly to say the least, but also a hazard to pets and children and the environment.
