Update on Concrete and Paving Work

by admin on August 8, 2010

Yes, work will begin on Wednesday, August 11 as previously noted. Parking restrictions will be in effect from that date, Wednesday, August 11, through the following Wednesday, August 18. During that time, both townhome parking lots and the C Street alley will have No Parking during the daytime hours of 7am to 5pm. For the day that the asphalt is poured, there will be no overnight parking for at least one and possibly two nights (depends on how hot and humid it is).

The work crew needs access to these areas throughout the entire week even when they are working on the concrete repair of pathways, etc. If your car is in the way, it will be towed.

Beltway Paving will be posting notices on each affected home no later than Monday, August 9.

In addition, No Parking signs will be displayed in each of the three parking areas, and access to each area will be blocked from 7am to 5pm and overnight during the asphalt phase.

What does this mean for you?

If you normally take your car out for the entire day anyway, you will perhaps have to leave a little earlier and/or return a little later to comply with the 7 to 5 restrictions. And you will only have to find alternate parking during the 24-48 hour period when the asphalt is poured and dries.

If you need access to your car on and off during the day, you will need to remove it by 7am and find alternate parking throughout the day until 5pm when you can return to the lot. You will also have to find overnight parking for one or two nights during the asphalt phase.

For C Street residents with driveway and garage access from the alley; you will need to get your car out before 7am if you are planning to use it during the day. If you will not need your car for a given day, you can leave it in your drive or garage, and be able to get out after 5pm. During the asphalt phase you will need to find alternate parking for your car for the overnight period(s) as well, or you will be blocked in for up to a 48 hour period.

Non-townhome residents: Please help your neighbors by keeping your cars in your garages and/or drives, freeing up as much street parking as possible. If you have unused space in your drive, this would be a great time to offer its temporary use to a neighbor in one of the townhomes. If you have space, but know of no one in particular who might need it, please let one of the Board members know.

What about trash and recycling? You have two options for the two days that trash pickup will be affected (Friday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 17.)

  1. You may get rid of as much trash as you can Tuesday the 10th, and store the rest until Friday the 20th at which point we should be home free and the refuse trucks will have access again.
  2. Or, you walk your trash to the nearest unaffected pickup area on the mornings of the 13th and 17th. For C Street residents this would be out the front and across C Street, for the Overlook residents this would be across 17th street. If you choose option 2, please be as tidy as possible and mindful of your neighbors.

As always, we ask you to help get the information out by sharing it with your neighbors, tenants and friends who may not have access to email. If we all cooperate (and Mother Nature does too) we should have this whole process done within the designated week, with minimal disruption.

If you have any additional questions or anticipate a serious problem please contact any of the Board members below and we will try to help figure out a solution.

Thanks for your help and we can all look forward to smooth sailing (on our roads) ahead.
